  • How long will I be in therapy?

There is no set time frame for how long healing or personal growth takes. Some individuals meet their counseling goals in just a handful of sessions, while others may require support over a longer period of time.

You are in control and have the choice to end counseling, or pause it, any time you want.

While there is a significant amount of science supporting counseling approaches, it is still an art form and organic process.

Your counseling experience will include repeated opportunity to evaluate and discuss your progress to ensure that sessions are effective and meeting client needs.

  • What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders (as described by the EMDR International Association).

It is a powerful tool for healing and supports the body and brain’s natural recovery processes. EMDR does not require individuals to talk in detail about their traumatic experiences and includes learning relaxation strategies to help calm the body’s nervous system, which is often negatively affected by distressing experiences or trauma.

Please visit www.EMDRIA.org for more information.

These businesses are under the same HIPAA regulations as Free To Be, in that we both use appropriate safeguards to prevent the misuse or disclosure of your personal health information.

Reduced rate services may be available through Open Path Collective. Jessica Johnson will soon be accepting up to two clients at a time from Open Path Collective.

  • Why choose cash-pay counseling services?

Using cash-pay counseling services provides you the most freedom and privacy. You are able to choose the provider who fits you best, without limitations often imposed by insurance networks. You get more choice in many elements of your care including: length and duration of visits, modalities used, privacy of your PHI and medical records, and confidentiality of diagnosis and treatment plan.

Managed care plans can deny payment or reduce benefits for care obtained outside of their network or with out their pre-approval. Additionally, your number of appointments or treatment options may be limited.

Lastly, insurance companies require counselors to provide a lot of a client’s personal information, including: diagnosis, treatment type, service dates, copies of notes, treatment justifications, progress reports, and financial information.

Choosing a cash-pay counseling service provides you the greatest level of control and privacy of your life, family, finances and mental health.

  • What if I have out-of-network insurance benefits I want to use?

That’s great! Payment is due at time of service. Once you confirm your out-of-network benefits, we can create a receipt (called a Superbill) for you to submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement.

Receipt (a.k.a. Superbill or Statement for Insurance Reimbursement) is provided to you containing:
    - Member name, address, phone number, and ID
    - Primary insured name
    - Provider name, address, phone number, tax ID, NPI, licensure
    - Diagnosis code
    - Date of service
    - Service, CPT code, billed amount

  • Where are sessions held?

Counseling sessions are held remotely, using a secure and HIPAA-compliant video meeting platform.

Counseling can still focus on family, relationship or parenting concerns if this is desired.

  • What if I am seeking other services such as medication, group support or in patient services?
